User Profile

I was born in Houston, Texas, in 1982, under the sign of Virgo. I write everyday and do not look out a window with a small garden outside it. I've lived in Houston most of my life, then spent four years in the Longfellow Mountains in western Maine, three years in Omaha, and short stints in other places like Seattle, Washington, Wilmington, North Carolina and St. Petersburg, Florida. Right now, I live at times in Houston and at times in the Texas Hill Country, and think about living other places quite often. I'm writing and arranging poems for a first book, probably called "Another Reason Why I Love This City", two non-fiction works, one book-length, the other smaller and more artsy about my father and abstract art, titled, "Diapason", and a novel in-progress without a title but deeply indebted to Howard Norman's last novel, "Devotion". In the future I hope to live north of Boston, and I probably will. Degrees in English Literature and Greek Philosophy from The University of Nebraska - Omaha; going for an MA in the History of Science from Oklahoma University; MFA at some point; going for a PhD in American Literature/Whitman Studies -- dealing in Whitman and cybernetics and bridging socio-sexual politics & spirituality and humanism of the 19thC with late 20thC technology. Other interests include ancient poetry and translation, aesthetics, trauma theory, contemporary poetry, the history of the sonnet form, ekphrasis, identity theory, literary criticism and medical ethics.
